Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was the first to give the cantilever chair an aesthetic lightness and connect it to the interior with curved lines.
Before the Weissenhof Estate exhibition he organised, Mies van der Rohe was introduced to the principle of the cantilever chair thanks to Mart Stam.
New as this approach was, Mies van der Rohe was not impressed by Stam's first implementation of it.
He immediately responded to the technological innovation with his own aesthetic solution, which he was able to introduce in 1927.
