In 1947, the first artistic-industrial production cooperative of joiners was established under the Tatras, named after the place of its foundation - Javorina. It is still based in the original region, processes exclusively oak wood from the forests of Eastern Slovakia and produces furniture in a manufactory that wins prizes for design by renowned names. "The design of solid wood furniture is more demanding than other materials because the wood remains alive. It changes its dimensions with changing humidity and the design has to take this into account. Given the high value of the material, we do not like to succumb to short-term trends, so we develop a design that is simple and, above all, timeless."- Chief designer Leo Čellár. In recent years, Javorina has often invited well-known names such as Lucie Koldová, Boris Klimek and Lenka Damová or the Vrtiška and Žák studio to collaborate with us.
